Not A Happy Camper
A few weeks ago my kids commented on how warm the pool was even though it hadn't been that hot outside.
Hubby mentions that he found the pool heater on the other night and that is probably why it was warm.
I question him as to how long he thinks the heater was on, and he says only a couple of days while the pump was running. He thinks the kids accidentally switched it on when turning off the spa a few days before.
Well, yesterday I got the gas bill. We have a gas heater on the pool.
Last months bill was $86.00. This months bill was $417.00.
Something tells me the pool heater was on for more than a few days (or hours).
I was calm and did not yell.
I only looked at the offending child with a very annoyed look on my face and tried my hardest not to cry.
Needless to say hubby and I will be checking the pool heater a little more closely (and regularly) in the future.

Oh you are a better woman than me!!! Or I. Or whatever. I would have yelled and cried.
I'm afraid I would have cried too.
Yikes! That is quite a hike in price! I would've cried.
We have a pool that is not heated. We're considering installing solar heating because we worry that gas heating would be too costly.
My husband has taken a dip or two in our un-heated pool but since the temp is still only in the low 70's, I'm waiting a bit longer.
Oh My Gosh!!Ugghhh!!I would have definetly cried!!Not yelling is sometimes worse punishment!
Yowzers - that must have been one warm pool. I hate it when that happens. I guess now you will watch that pool heater like a hawk. Here's to your house decision... sounds lovely.
oh Jeez! Very rough discovery.
I just found your blog from Raising Fives. Your blog is great! I love that you are adopting from Ethiopia, we have been praying about adopting as well. (fyi...we have not made it public knowledge on our blog) What agency are you going through?
Oh my stars!!! I can't believe that. I might have fainted...and then I would have undoubtedly yelled. I'm so sorry!!!
Hope it gets better!
ACK!!!! You are a MUCH better mama than me. I would have freaked out.
YEOWW!! Oh. my. gosh!
WOW, I can't believe it costs so much to heat that. Crazy. (And you are a VERY controlled mother. I would have lost it, so DH probably wouldn't have even told me, LOL.)
It is amazing how things add up. We had a similar problem with water and we pay the city for it. A running toilet can cost lots of dollars. Take care!
