The Fires, Part 3
Imagine being on the phone with your daughter while she and her family are being evacuated from their home as fire is quickly approaching. Your daughter tells you not to worry, they are all packed and leaving. A firefighter is stationed at every other house on your block trying to save your neighborhood. You quickly tell your mom, "I have to go, the front yard is on fire" and the line goes dead.
This happened to my sister. It was three long hours before she would hear from her daughter again.
They were in their RV in the local Target parking lot with some other evacuees.
Large pieces of ash had rained down on them as huge flames were coming at them from the end of the street.
The firefighters saved all the housed on there block.
I just talked with her and she said their is a layer of ash 6" thick all over everything.
However, they are safe.
We are currently worried about my other sister. She and her husband live in an area threatened by the fires. All the phone lines are out so we have no way of knowing what is going on with them. Cell phones are not working as all the circuits are busy.
I'm sure they are safe but would like some word just to know what is going on. Hopefully someone will hear from them soon.

Julie, I pray you and your relatives are safe! How scary!
Julie, we're vigilantly praying for everyone. I feel practically glued to the news, as things in Santa Clarita haven't been going well either. So many friends and family members.
Thank you for keeping us updated--right now I think you are the only one I know in Southern California who is keeping up on the blogs about it. Praying for you and the others ass well.
That is so scary. It is so hard not to know, but I am glad that you do know the one niece is okay.
Oh, Julie! I have been praying for you guys. I will keep your sister and family in my prayers as well.
Just so awful.
