Morning Happenings
Today was the first day back at school for our 3rd grader. I was a little worried because he has always been at school with a sibling. However, this year his older siblings are either in Middle School or High School and his little sister in pre-school.
I quickly realized my concern was unnecessary.
We left for school early so we would have time to go and look at the posted list stating which classroom her would be in and who his teacher was.
He was happy that his best friend was in his class.
I started walking to the playground with him and he stopped me.
Mom, what are you doing? You really don't have to come with me. I just want to go and play with my friends.
OK, I smiled back (heart breaking silently) if you don't want me to I won't. Have a great day. Bye.
Bye Mom. See you later.
And then he was gone.
This new found independence really stinks!

That is so sweet. I agree though. From almost birth we are teaching our children to be independent (sleeping through the night, staying with a babysitter, etc.) I know this is my job, but it is bittersweet.
Wah - it's so sad when they get independent, isn't it? Well, proud...and sad.
Your kids are going back already, eh? We start Aug. 28. I have mixed feelings about it. The summer flew by (as I knew it would), but the kids are mentioning school now and miss seeing their friends. Then, I think it will be nice to clean a room and have it last longer than 5 minutes. Then I think, but I'll miss them. I dunno! LOL
My 2nd grader wouldn't let me walk her to class the first day! She knew who her teacher was from open house, so she walked in alone. Where did the time go? Blessings to you!
