Welcome to the party!

I am so excited that you have come over for a minute. I can't wait to get to know you! I am going to open my heart to you today, introduce you to my family, and let you in on a few unknown secrets about myself.

1. I am a compulsive over volunteerer. At this moment I am planing our little league carnival for opening day. The carnival is tomorrow! Why am I on my computer? I have prizes and candy to sort, vendors to confirm with, and a parade to plan. Oh well, all that will just have to wait. I have new bloggety friends to meet.

2. On the few Saturday mornings we have nothing to do I love love love to sleep in. This happens maybe half a dozen times a year. My wonderful hubby will tell the children not to disturb me until I am awake. Knowing this, I will take a book which I have been dieing to read (usually have several on my bed side table) and start reading, under the covers, and when a child peeks in to see if I am awake I just close my eyes as if I am not. I can usually get two or three good hours of reading out of this. I am sure this puts me into some horrible mother category, but I really don't care, it is blissfully wonderful the few times it happens every year.

3. I have five ornery...uh, oops, I mean wonderful children. My oldest is 15 and I am not allowed to talk about him on my blog. Can you imagine that he actually thinks he deserves some sort of privacy regarding his life??? It is really to bad because between him and his friends I have pages and pages of hysterical anecdotal information I could use on this blog. My 13 yr. old just wants to make sure I don't embarrass him( I don't know why he thinks I would do such a thing?) our 10 and 8 year old feel like superstars when they are mentioned, and my three year old is well, three, so she doesn't really care about anything but blowing bubbles in the back yard.

4. Our family loves baseball. We play baseball, watch baseball, coach baseball, and anything else baseball related is going on at our house. My husband would love to quit his day job and just coach and play baseball all day long. He probably should have considered this before we had all of those kids, but then who would he have to coach, watch and play with? Hmm. Our oldest just started playing high school ball which has launched us into another phase. I have decided that this could be great for my figure. Every time he pitches in a game I get so nervous I think I may actually throw up. He seems to love the pressure and actually thrives on it. I CAN NOT TAKE IT! I worry about him because some of the other parent's can be a little nasty when things aren't going as well as they think they should. I am sure any of you with kids in youth sports know what I am talking about. Oh well, maybe I can take an extra 10 pounds off during the season if the nervous stomach persists.

As you have just read I broke rule #3 above (do not talk about 15 yr. old on blog) so to appease him I am posting his favorite teams logo here: Sorry honey, I just couldn't help it.

5. I have never had any kind of a drink at Starbucks. I don't know why I just haven't. In honor of being, most likely, the only one in the blogosphere who has not I have donated a $20.00 gift certificate to this fine coffee establishment for the Bloggety Blog Party. Go on over and register to win.

6. Finally, here is my idea of the perfect man (next to my wonderful hubby of course).

Don't you agree? Please leave a comment and tell me something about yourself. Does anyone else out there not go to Starbucks??? I look forward to visiting your blogs on Sunday (after Church and the big Carnival) and can't wait to meet some new bloggy friends.

Blessings,
Julie

Sorry, Starbucks addict here. Your prize is on the very top of my list! LOL!

You have such a beautiful family! I can totally understand the 15 year old's point of view. He's at "that" age! Oh wait, is commenting about him against the rules, too? LOL!

I've never had anything from Starbucks either! My husband played baseball all the way through college. My son, who is five, starts his first practice next week! Also, Fenway is one of my husbands favorite parks to visit!

Visiting for the party! Although, I have been to Starbucks, I am not a regular. Especially since they did away with the gazillion calorie Choc. Brownie Frapp! Nice to meet you!

Party on!

The only thing I ever get at Starbucks is hot chocolate... especially the peppermint hot chocolate. Mmmmmm!

I guess 15yo boys and 15yo girls aren't all that different. My daughter was ready to put on her boxing gloves after I posted her picture in her winter formal gown. Sorry... I birthed you, I pay your bills, I can write about you all I want! :)

Hope you can find time to stop by my party!

Woohoo! I can finally comment (had to restart my computer) Great party post. I hope you meet a lot of fun new friends. And I like your snowmen!
I love coffee, but Starbucks makes me jittery! Of course, I think they carry decaf! That was so nice of you to offer a prize. By the time I even thought of it, the prizes were closed!
Peace to you!

It's very nice to meet you. I love your reading in bed idea. My 8 year old daughter has started doing that on Saturdays and Sundays as well (although she doesn't hide--she can stay in bed as long she likes!).

Oooh--I'm hoping to get that Starbucks gift certificate, too. Funny why you donated it!

Hey Julie,

Thanks so much for all that you shared :) It was great reading about you. My husband and I both love slow-pitch softball although we only have one daughter in which to coach.

I'm totally with you on the Starbucks thing. I've never been there. I probably wouldn't go there unless I knew they have a Coke with my name on it :)

Have a most blessed week!

I've never gone to Starbucks either. I'm afraid that I will use the wrong lingo when ordering something and everyone will laugh at me. I probably worry too much. Have a great party!

Yep, gotta love the Starbucks. Thanks for donating the gift card, even if I don't win it (fingers crossed)! Your family sounds like lots of fun! I have a blended five teenager family, ages 19 to 14, and four of them live with us full time. I love the circus of a family that big. I also love your "I'm not reading, I'm sleeping in" technique. I might have to give it a try. I enjoyed meeting you, and hope you'll stop by my corner of the party for a cup of virtual coffee, if you get the chance!

I don't do Starbucks either! Not hoping to win that gift, sorry, lol. I have had a drink there, but not coffee! They have a hot apple cider drink that is like drinking a liquid green apple covered in caramel!
something about me: I'm addicted to cloth diapering! I watch the mail for "fluffy mail" and get so excited! My kids call me seriously sick addicted. I do blog about them, but they dont' seem to mind.

I haven't had anything from Starbucks except hot chocolate. I don't like coffee. My boys sometimes wonder what I am writing about them...so they have to "approve". One time last year they even had me "tally up" to make sure they all had the same number of mentions throughout my blog. I'll be praying for all of you tomorrow. Hope you'll stop by my blog party, too.

Blessings.

Julie, it's so nice to meet you -- I feel like I know you from that wonderful introduction! Sounds like you have some great kids.

I've only been to Starbucks about three times, but my little brother more than makes up for you never going!

I'm afraid we can't talk about baseball -- I'd rather watch paint dry than go to a game or watch on TV. Football and basketball are my games. Of course, all that might change if my brand new two week old nephew winds up on a baseball team. ;)

Have a great party!

I wish I could say that I haven't been to Starbucks, but I who doesn't really drink plain coffee has been there, many times. So much so that my 5-year-old and my 7-year-old each have their own favorite drinks (5-caramel apple cider and 7-vanilla milk). Oh yeah, I'm an addict!

Enjoy the party!

What a lovely blog! I've only been in the Starbucks connected to our Barnes and Noble, but I have never bought coffee there (I love their cookies!) I have to drink decaf for health reasons and don't like flavored coffees, so i don't need to spend big bucks there for plain decaf. :)

Hi Julie - Thanks so much for stopping by! Coffee shops are a guilty pleasure of mine, and I treat myself to a Hazelnut Latte whenever I find myself out and about sans family (which isn't often).
