Advent Begins
Yesterday was the first day of Advent. When I was a girl my family did not celebrate Advent and I really knew nothing of it. Last year I did some investigating and decided to start a new tradition of celebrating this special time of the year with my own family.
We read our new Advent book which the kids really seemed to enjoy, had our special snacks (chocolate coated pretzels and praline almonds, yummmmm) lit the first candle and had some wonderful times laughing and talking about the meaning of the story.
We talked about what this site , which I found over at Owlhaven, had to say about the Christmas season.
We talked about this......
We watched, we talked, we thought. What a wonderful evening it was!
What do you think? Can we take Christmas back for Christ? It seems their may be a revolution brewing to do just that.

The story of Christ's birth is a story of promise, hope, and a
revolutionary love.
So, what happened?
What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior has somehow turned
into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists.
And when it's all over, many of us are left with presents to return,
looming debt that will take months to pay off, and this empty feeling of missed
purpose. Is this what we really want out of Christmas?
What if Christmas became a world-changing event again?
Christmas
was meant to change the world. It still can. Worship more. Spend less. Give
more. Love all.
We watched, we talked, we thought. What a wonderful evening it was!

What a wonderful idea.
We did advent when I was a child, but we haven't started doing it as a family as of yet.
Sounds like a great family time. We've never done advent. Every year I've considered checking into it, but always too late. Sounds like a great book. I'm going to check into it more. Maybe better late than never, or there is always next year. Thanks for sharing.
